That is completely not what I'm trying to do here- I'm trying to allow for a greater chance of progression with the Pokemon you've already got and the Trainer you have. Even random "behind the scenes" catches will require me to randomly generated the pokemon, their movesets, their natures and abilities, etc. It would provide more work for me than something you all can manage yourselves.

Allrighty, fair enough. I'm going to stop trying to suggest things, as we don't appear to be on the same wavelength. Wargrunte and I are playing another game right now with him as the DM, and I've noticed he gets notably less interested in the game when I leave the plot of the game behind temporarily to catch wild pokemon. I didn't know if that thought process was universal, hence my suggestion.

Not at all- wild encounters can actually be something that keeps me in a pbp game- it gives me an opportunity to reward my players for training up their own Pokemon that they have and perhaps catch new ones- I have a friend IRL who catches anything and everything which gets frustrating, but for the others, they actively seek out these encounters to prove themselves and work for new Pokemon and EXP. Everyone has a different style and it depends on the game for what the GM likes or feels regarding "leaving the plot behind." For me, wild encounters are always an integral part of Pokemon, and even if there are plot things going on, unless there is a time crunch with the plot, its reasonable for me to assume my players are going to want to buff themselves up before facing the plot head on.

Personally I would rather earn all my experience and would not be opposed to simply having increased EXP rate drop. That said, I also understand that some people do not get into pokemon battles on a regular basis. So I am good on the behind the scenes exp drops. Not so much on the behind the scenes pokemon catching though: Like Covert said, wild pokemon encounters can help progress a story and I want to be able to choose which pokemon I catch, not select from a list or be randomly given one.

Besides, that takes away our ability to... fail at catching pokemon...

Hey everyone! PTA has the new update! Since most of the characters are only at level 0-2, it's nothing that we'll have to change sheets for, but there is a new section regarding moves in that the amount of moves was lowered drastically- you can now only have 4 natural moves and 4 tm/hm moves. I'll allow everyone to edit their sheets accordingly, and post the new sheet if/when it get made

There is a new section regarding moves in that the amount of moves was lowered drastically- you can now only have 4 natural moves and 4 tm/hm moves. The 7/7 feature is one of my favorite changes from the video game. To me, PTA has always been very anime inspired(Pikachu! Use Thundershock, Thunderbolt, and Thunder all in the same battle!), and although I've never gotten past level 5/pokemon level 16 in any PTA game, the amount of available moves seems like it would make the game VERY strategically solid. This is disappointing news to me.

Well, I don't know what to tell you. I was a bit upset with it, but it isn't my change, and for now, I'm going to let it stand. The creator even said after he runs a game, he may change it.

I think the change was to make the Move Tutor prestige class a more appreciable pick. Get a feature with it, and those 4/4 move list become a 8 move list. Still restrictive, but not quite as bad.
Edit: I am sleep deprived. Take everything I say with a handful of salt. (I tend to think I am witty when sleep deprived. Might be a apology for another post that I recently made.)

Yes, but not everyone is going to pick the Move Tutor class, and with early play especially, TM/Tutor moves are very hard to come buy/afford. /shrugs He said he's gonna playtest it soon and see how it works out

I did not say I liked the change though. I think it is stupid too. If the moves are that limited though, the Center frequency should have been taken out too in my opinion. In early to mid game, when TMs and HMs are hard to come by, having a Center or even Battle Frequency move can now really screw you over.

Agreed- Center has always been a bit of thorn in my side, but now... I predict it will be even more so
